VeteranDB has introduced an expanded verification system supporting both Veterans and military dependents, along with new requirements connecting public organization listings to verified members. The update gives eligible dependents a path to participation and strengthens the platform’s process for managing verification.
The new system records Veteran and dependent verification separately, with pending, verified, and rejected statuses. Platform staff can review and update verification records, providing a more structured process for administering access to features that require a verified community connection.
A New Path for Military Dependents
Verified Veterans can now invite eligible military dependents to VeteranDB through a dedicated invitation process. Completing a valid invitation verifies the recipient’s dependent status on the platform.
Invitation emails include an expiration notice and a backup link to help recipients complete the process. This gives verified Veterans a direct way to bring eligible family members into the community.
Verified dependents can also create organizations, extending access to organization tools beyond Veteran account holders.
A Verified Connection Behind Public Listings
Under the updated requirements, members must be verified as a Veteran or military dependent before creating an organization.
Public visibility for business, nonprofit, podcast, and directory listings also depends on that connection. An organization must have at least one verified Veteran or dependent administrator for its associated listings to appear publicly, including in directory results, featured placements, and individual listing pages.
If an organization does not meet that requirement, its affected listings remain hidden from public view until the requirement is satisfied.
This establishes a consistent participation standard across those listing categories. Account verification confirms an administrator’s Veteran or dependent status; it does not constitute an endorsement of an organization’s products or services.
Supporting Organizations and Their Teams
The verification requirements work alongside VeteranDB’s organization management features. A verified Veteran or dependent can establish an organization and invite additional people to help manage its presence through organization-specific roles and permissions.
That structure supports businesses and nonprofits whose teams include civilian employees, marketing professionals, volunteers, and other collaborators. Organizations can involve the people responsible for their work while maintaining a verified Veteran or dependent administrator.
Clearer Verification Management
The expanded system replaces the platform’s earlier single Veteran-verification indicator with records that distinguish verification type and review status.
For platform staff, the change provides dedicated tools to grant or reject verification. For members, it supports a clearer distinction between having an account and meeting the verification requirements for organization creation and public listing visibility.
